Local Media news… Shropshire Star

“One runner supporters did not fail to miss was Stuart Ruston, who is based at Telford Central fire station, who ran the marathon in full fireman’s kit.
He was attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon completed while dressed as a firefighter.
The current record was 2hrs 20mins and Mr Ruston finished the race in 2:01:36. He must now verify the time with Guinness World Records.
Mr Ruston was raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity and Help For Heroes.
There was also a 2km fun run held in memory of Layla Jane Pitt, from Dawley, who died from a brain haemorrhage in 2008.”

UPDATE: Saturday 30th March 2013 13:00Hrs

We are very pleased to inform you that The Ironbridge Half Marathon is to go ahead tomorrow, Easter Sunday 31st March 2013, 10.30am start, at the Telford Town Park Arena.

Note that the clocks go forward an hour, so please change your clocks tonight before you go to bed!

For your enjoyment, expect to see sunshine, lots of smiley faces, patches of snow and mud as you run. – This is not a PB course! So enjoy the views and soak up the atmosphere.

As temperatures drop tonight there is a chance of small patches of ice forming.

The Sun may not clear these in time for the run so need to be treated with caution. (Walk if needed or run on the grass to the side)

Located within ‘Rough Park’ section of the course is a small tree that has fallen over, which you can easily step over.

If you don’t like to get your trainers muddy then you will be able to transfer your entry to our 25th Anniversary Race next year. If you decide to transfer your race entry to next year, you will need to let Lisa know via e-mail by Friday 5th April 2013. After this date no transfers will qualify.

Race entries WILL be taken on the day, please arrive at 9am to register.

Thank you for supporting our event and for your patience and understanding

Enjoy your run; we look forward to seeing your smiles this Sunday.

Yours in Sport …. and …not so stressed now!
