Who are we?

Our Club has over 150 Members, our main base since moving in April 2008 is now Horsehay Village Golf Centre, on the edge of Telford, Shropshire. We were founded in 1984 by Jim Bremner (see History pages for further information). We have members of all abilities, from beginners through to athletes who have represented their country.  We are affiliated to England Athletics, and are members of UK Athletics, British Triathlon, the Fell Runners' Association (through UKA) and Shropshire Athletic Association.
We are known locally as the Club that promotes the very popular Ironbridge Half Marathon, and we have a proud reputation for being a friendly and sociable bunch of people. We also have a lively Discussion Forum and you are very welcome to leave us a message!.

Our contact email address is enquiries@telfordharriers.co.uk

Training Nights

We meet at Horsehay Village Golf Centre in Summer and Winter. Our Winter runs tend to make use of the well-lit streets in Telford, and during the Summer we tend to go more 'off road'. We have a club rule that we never leave anyone to fend for themselves on a club run. Club nights in more detail below.
 Tuesday - 7pm
This is normally dedicated to some kind of structured speed work such as hill efforts, fartlek, timed relays or handicap races. We do this as a group so that ALL abilities can join in.
Once a month from April- September, our Handicap races are run over a 3k course, at our new HQ at Horsehay (April 2008). Runners are 'handicapped', and they start according to ability. In theory, everyone arrives back at the end "en masse". This is useful as a fitness indicator. Runners from other clubs are always welcome to attend.
Speed work can be hard work but is a great way of improving performance and is a welcome alternative to those long runs. Our speed sessions are so much fun that you hardly notice the pain! If you're not into speed work, there are other groups that will go for a steady run (anything up to 60mins or so).
 Thursday - 7pm
Split into groups of all abilities and distances, speed ranging from 6 - 10 minute miles and distance ranging from 4 miles - 12 miles. During the Summer months we have the luxury of going off-road through the park-land and local Shropshire countryside.
 Sunday - 10am
Sunday long runs are more by arrangement. After Xmas, Harriers begin training for Spring marathons, like London, so will meet at the club at 10am for a weekly long slow run. It is, of course, easier to run as part of a group, than on your own. You don't have to be a club member to come along and try it out.
Harriers Tri Club
and Harriers Fell Club (Ercall Hill Runners) often meet away from Stirchley Rec for rides and runs. Please contact the club if you are interested in these.
Our training sessions are very flexible, and we are always open to new ideas!

We offer a 4-week trial period to anyone who comes along to train with us.
