A Quite Weekend of Racing for Harriers

As January exits and February starts, a lot of Harriers are well into marathon training mode. But that did stop a select number of Harriers competing last weekend and representing the green and gold.

The Cannock Chase 10 & 5 Mile

Chris Doran was the lone Harrier taking part in this new 10 Mile race around the undulating forest paths and trails in and around Cannock Chase Forest.

The course uses an undulating two lap route around the trails and paths within Cannock Chase. Starting and finishing close to Penkridge Road Car Park, the route is usually quiet with no vehicle traffic, although there are other forest users and bicycles crossing the routes.

Chris had an amazing run, finishing in 9th position overall in a time of 01:11.24

Walton Wobble 10k

Back for the third time, this undulating 10K race is run around Walton on the Hill and surrounding areas, starting and finishing at Walton High School. With some tough climbs thrown in, this was going to be a challenge for all competitors.

We had two entrants into this years race; Caroline Rigby was first Harrier home completing the course in 58:30 and in 122nd place. Kelly Davies was next home in a time of 1:10.39 and in 227th position.

All in all a quiet weekends of racing, but as the month trickles by we will see an upturn in races and our green and golds runners representing our great club.
