A cold start to the year saw the Telford Harriers compete in a number of cross country races over the last few weeks of the month. In a two week review, we take a look at the races in more detail and highlight our runners results.
Midlands Cross Country Championships
A core of 4 men and 3 female runners attended the Midlands XC Championships at Newbold Comyn, Leamington on January 26th ready to represent the green and gold.
Men were scheduled to run 3 laps of the course to give a 12k route and the ladies 2 laps totalling 8k in distance and it was the ladies who where up first.
Vic Doran was first Harrier home in 117th place and a time of 40:19, followed by Kerry Richardson in 166th and a time of 44:17. Naomi Ashmore wasnt far behind finishing in 185th place with a time of 46:24.

The only other activity from the weekend was Michael Smith who was close to recording another 5k PB at Telford Parkrun, mussing out by just 2 seconds and coming home in 17:43, in 4th place.
North Wales Cross Country League - Oswestry Meet
In the final NWCCL race of the season, three of our runners headed over to Oswestry to take on the course in the green and gold. Steve Walker and Dave O’Loughlin competed in the mens races and Vic Doran in the senior ladies.
Steve Walker, competing in the senior mens came home in 99th position from 122 runners in a time of 45:05.
Dave O'Loughlin managed to secure 4th place overall in the Masters race, finishing in a time of 26:29.
Vic Doran, racing in the senior ladies race secured 34th position in a time of 24:09.
On a positive note it was good to see one of our runners, Lisa Butler, returning from injury and a subsequent operation and getting back out running again.
