Its not very often that we as dedicated runners get to pull on our countries colours and compete in the sport we love. However for one such Harrier thats exactly what happened last weekend.
Steph Egleston had been selected to run in the European Masters Athletics Championships for 2019, which this year was hosted in Venice, Italy.
Steph competed in the W55 category in the Half Marathon discipline which was held in Jesolo on a hot a humid Italian Sunday. Talking about the experience Steph said:
"Today is an example of taking opportunities and pushing the boundaries. After an early start I made my way to the start of the European Championships Half Marathon race in Jesolo running for Great Britain.
Hot, humid and no shade but a good run and winning W55 Team Silver.
I have to thank coach Steve O'Brien for helping turn me around from the track season to be ready to run today and keeping me motivated through what have been a few difficult weeks recently making training tough. Also for being there today with Angela O'Brien and changing their plans to wait with me for the medal ceremony. Onwards and upwards to the next challenge now"
Im sure every Harrier will want to extend their congratulations to Steph and this amazing achievement to both run for Great Britain and come home with a silver medal.
Tibberton Trott 10k
Staged by Newport Running Club, this was the first running of the Tibberton Trott 10k, which was a multi-terrain course set on quiet country lanes and paths through the beautiful countryside in and around Tibberton village.
A small contingent of Harriers were ready to take on the race which started on a school field then took runners around the Tibberton village before ending back on the school field. The weather was kind, keeping it dry and warm, and our runners did amazingly well coming home in the following times:

59th: Nicki Atkins - 53:13 (Winner of F40 category)
