Local Races Take Precedence

As the dust settled from the successful Ironbridge Half Marathon, it was local races that took president in a weekend of busy racing.

The Lilleshall Monumental 10K

The Lilleshall Monumental 10K, celebrating its 10th year, loops around this beautiful historic village. The route follows remnants of the industrial revolution weaving its way along disused canal paths, past ponds, through woods and onwards past the eleventh century church and then on up to the iconic monument itself, with great views across the Shropshire plain.

We had a good number of runners competing in the race which was well attended by over 270 local runners.

Overall results were as follows:

Calne Clock Change Challenge 10k

The Calne Clock Change Challenge are 10km & 5km accurately measured road races staged in Calne, Wiltshire, Both races are noted for their fat and fast courses and give runners a good opportunity to go for PBs.

We had 2 runners competing in this event, husband and wife team Marie and Paul Rusco who both put in some great effort with te following times:

Paul - 48:53

Marie - 1:39.54

The Silkin Way 50k Ultra

This tough race was held on Saturday 30th March and was the 3rd running of The Silkin Way Ultra.

This race was held last year to coincide with the birthday of the Silkin Way when it was 50 years old and takes runners from the south side of Telford by The River Severn, to the northern side in Brockton.

Once refuelled in Brockton, runners travel back through Telford, before turning west towards Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge.

Simon Aires was our lone runner in this though race, which was a test for any runner, and was running his first ultra in over 3 years.

Simon came home in 35th place and registering a time of 5:55:21 and registering a 50k PB!

Parkrun Roundup

We had a good number of runners take part in various Parkruns on Saturday morning with some great times being set as follows:
