Park Hall Proves A Test For Harriers

As we edge closer to Christmas and the weather starts turning colder, the cross country season really starts to kick into gear. Saturday 17th November saw the third race in the North Staffordshire Cross Country League (NSCCL) take place at Park Hall.

A strong team of 19 runners made the trip to compete in the 3rd race of the series with both senior women's and mes team sitting in 7th in their respective league tables.

Park Hall is known for its hilly terrain so this was going to be a tough course for all runners, but the green and gold remained in good spirits as they got set up for a days cross country racing.

In similar fashion to previous races, it was the senior women who led the charge for the Harriers and took on the course first.

Experienced XC runner Vic Doran was first Harrier home in 76th place in a time of 27:35 closely followed by Christina O'Brien completing the course in 28:01 to finish 91st.

Our other senior women came home as follows:

96th: Lisa Yeomans - 28:23

103rd: Kerry Richardson - 28:45

130th: Louise Bibbings - 30:39

142nd: Kim Chatfield - 31:26

160th: Georgina Westwood - 34:15

171st: Hannah Bandy - 35:15

175th: Joanne Weaver - 35:30

184th: Sonia Edmonds - 36:26

Top 4 counters scored Harriers 366 points to keep the Senior Women's team in 7th position moving on to the next race.

The mens race kicked off not to soon after as the sun came out on the days racing. Again a fantastic set of results were achieved by our men led home by Dean Aston securing Harriers top finishing position in 33rd with a time of 25:59.

Just under a minute behind was Michael Smith who produced another fantastic display securing 54th place in a time of 26:55. Setting more great times where:

107th: Victor Bennett - 29:00

121st: Jon Edmonds - 29:27

212th: Robin Chebsey - 34:05

220th: Paul Ruscoe - 34:30

241st: Gus Erlandson - 35:34

246: Rob Friel - 35:48

265: Stephen Davis - 37:34

Top 4 counters scored 3rd best in the division this weekend with a score of 315. This moved Harriers men into 5th place overall in the NSCCL Division 2 league, a jump of 2 places.
