Parkrun Priority in a Quiet Race Weekend

In a relatively quest weekend for the Harriers it was Parkrun that took priority as many runners took a break from racing.

By far our most travelled Parkrunner's and husband and wife duo Natalie and Jim Vidler, who end up at a different Parkrun most Saturdays. And last Saturday was no different with the Vidler's taking part in the Aberystwyth Park Run.

This out and back 5k is run on mainly tarmac paths and was another race to tick off on their Parkrun tourism.

Jim completed the race in 24.46 and registered 1st in his age category.

Natalie, pushing the buggy, completed the race in 29:40 and was 3rd in her age category.

We had a few more Parkrun tourists at the weekend with both Lisa Butler and Marie Mason running at The Wammy Parkrun in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.

Lisa came home in 36:25 while Marie finished 5th in her age category with a time on 28:26.

Kerry Tostevin ran closer to home and registered a 5k Parkrun PB at Telford with a time of 24:05.

Helena Tipping Wrexham 10k

Sunday saw the 27th running of the Helena Tipping Wrexham 10K. A flat and fast rural 10k starting on Oak Road Wrexham Industrial Estate and finishing at The Clubhouse, Wrexham Industrial Estate, which is run in memory of Wrexham AAC member Helena Tipping.

Jon and Sonia Edmonds were our Harrier runners at this race who finished with the following times:

73rd: Jon Edmonds - 40:49

473rd: Sonia Edmonds - 61:38

Harry Johnson Rainbow 10k

This fun run is organised by The Harry Johnson Trust, which supports Shropshire and Mid Wales children with cancer.

The race starts and finishes on the site of Vron Gate Village Show near Westbury, Shrewsbury, and takes place on private land, footpaths and quiet country lanes.

The route is fully stewarded and takes in come stunning scenery along the Long Mountain. The route includes some gentle inclines but has been carefully planned so that it is suitable for all running abilities.

Sarah Smith was our Harrier contingent at the race finishing this tough, hilly trail 10k route in 133rd position in a time of 1:14:45

And so ends another race weekend. Well done to all runners who raced and trained hard for their forthcoming races. We will see you at the start line at the next one.
