The weather might not have been the best, but the heavy rain didn't dampen the spirits of our runners as the Telford Harriers lined up ready to take on the Ellesmere 10k race
This is knows as a fast race, with the 2012 winning finishing time ranking this 10k as 6th fastest in the UK, so everyone lined up with the potential to land a PB. The race is a mix of road and trail with some very gentle undulations with just one sharp turn and a hump-back canal bridge to negotiate. On the plus side, there is some stunning scenery to run through making this a very enjoy able race.
Despite the poor conditions our Harriers contingent put in amazing effort with a number of PBs on the board.
First Harrier home was Andy Dippie in 97th place and a time of 44:11, closely followed by Andrew Buckle in a PB time of 44:41 and finishing in 109th place.
Third over the line was Gus Erlandson coming home in 163rd and in 46:55 and another PB.
Each and every runner did amazingly well taking into account of the poor weather conditions with our other runners finishing as follows:
Richard Palmer, 48:27 - 204th place
Michael Webb, 49:57 - 244th place
Danny, Jones, 52:14 - 309th place
Robert Friel, 53:07 - 338th place
Sam McLelland, 53:07 - 339th place
Robbie Chebsey, 53:13 - 343th place
Kelly Kempin, 53:14 - 344th place
Kelly Mackay, 53:22 - 345th place
Rachel Marie, Time TBC
Allison Canham, 1:07.44 - 652nd place
Mandy Webb, 1:15.15 - 732nd place
In total 766 runners braced the weather and completed the race, with this years winner finishing on 33:26 and taking home the £100 prize money. Yet again this was a brilliant race not ruined by the pouring rain.
Thanks you Ellesmere 10k, we will be back next year and hopefully bring the sun with us.
