Telford Harriers' very own Stacey Hawkins smashed her first every ultra marathon on Saturday 4th August by completing The Railway Ultra Challenge.
The Railway Ultra, staged by How Hard Can It Be Events, takes runners along the banks of the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth along the disused railway line where the views of the river are outstanding.
Each out and back lap is 9.4 miles and runners tackle as many laps as possible to reach their target distance. Runners have the choice of running 9, 19, 28, or 36 miles, with Stacey opting to take on the 28mile challenge.
The run was made harder by the sweltering heat on the day, which topped out at around 25 degrees, but the event had water stations every 4.7miles offering hydration and fuel for runners to take on board.
Supported by family and fellow Harriers runners, Stacey did amazing and completed the 28.3 mile race in 5hrs 12mins and 54 seconds and her first Ultra Marathon.
